Since I’m no longer transitioning, wash n go’s have been my style of choice. It took a lot of trial and error plus watching a ton of YouTube product reviews to find what works for me.
Here’s a little background information about my hair:
- Hair type is 3c/4a (based on society and it’s charts)
- Super thick
- HIGH porosity meaning my hair absorbs moisture quickly due to having open shafts causing a lot of FRIZZ
- highlighted twice and dyed it back to black both times
Now that is out the way, let’s get to the goods. My favorite wash n go products are:
- Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Conditioner
- Tangle Teezer Detangling Brush
- Love Beauty Planet Radical Refresher (Tea Tree Oil and Vetiver) Shampoo and Conditioner
- Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave In Conditioner
- Kinky Curly Original Curling Custard
- Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner – remember to deep condition your hair once a week if possible!
- Deva Curl Devafuser – optional, I air dry my hair majority of the time (minimal heat is key)
So, you may be wondering why I use these specific products.
Well, out of the 6 products I’ve listed, my favorite and automatic go to product is the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Conditioner. Its name describes this product perfectly. Aussie’s 3 Minute Miracle Moist Conditioner is the ONLY product I use as a detangler BEFORE I wash my hair because it has amazing slip. My Tangle Teezer detangling brush glides through my hair with ease and minimal breakage.
Love Beauty Planet Radical Refresher is a new product I recently decided to use after walking through Target one day. The packaging got my attention, but the smell definitely had me hooked. I deal with very itchy scalp from time to time and tea tree oil relieves that issue. As far as the conditioner, I like using two conditioners when washing my hair. Just a habit. It doesn’t make that much of a difference to my hair, but you can’t go wrong with an extra conditioner. Right?!
The Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave In Conditioner and Curling Custard are perfect together. I personally would not recommend separating these two, but what works for me may not work for you. The leave in conditioner makes the detangling process a lot easier once I’m out of the shower. The magic to an amazing wash n go ultimately comes down to which gel product you are using, and if you are not using Kinky Curly’s Curling Custard, it is time to put away the EcoStyler and pick up the Curling Custard. Yes, EcoStyler is a great gel, but I feel like it leaves my hair way too hard and crunchy. The Curling Custard has an excellent amount of hold for medium to thick hair without leaving your hair extra crunchy.
Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner is out of this world. I first purchased Mielle’s products when it was only an online store that I saw on Instagram. Therefore, it’s pretty safe to take my word on this product. Once again, I usually gravitate toward products that have peppermint and/or tea tree oil because of my scalp; this product is another one on that list. The Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner not only conditions my hair, but it leaves my hair and scalp feeling tingling and refreshing!
Finally, the Deva DevaFuser diffuser. You don’t need to use this specific diffuser for your wash n go’s, especially if you are trying to go heatless. I purchased it because I like being able to get close to my scalp due to the separated fingers on the diffuser.
I hope you enjoyed this post! If you decide to use any of these products, let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by.
